Getting Lucky Series

⭐⭐⭐⭐
I am a HUGE fan of Meghan Quinn books and will always go back to her stories when I need something that will lift my spirits and just make me feel good. The Knightly brothers are the perfect escape no matter what's going on. I went a little out of order when reading this series, but I just knew after listening to Brig's story (Hello, Connor Crais <-- one of my favorite narrators, check him out!) that I had to go back and start at the beginning with big brother Griffin.

So let's hop into it... Meghan starts the Knightly brother's stories out with a trip to New Orleans, an unfortunate drunken accident and a curse placed upon Griffin, Rogan, Reid and Brig Knightly.

“Listen to me, to the words I have spoken. From this day on, your love will be broken. It isn’t until your minds have matured, that the weight of this curse will forever be cured.”

When the guys return from Brig's birthday celebration in NOLA, the unthinkable happens and Griffin's wife, Claire dies suddenly. After losing his high school sweetheart, Griffin puts all of his focus into staying busy running the family fudge shop and being a volunteer firefighter for the next two years.... until an encounter with a moose leaves him saving Ren, an out of towner looking for a fresh start.

Ren and Griffin's interactions were full of humor, chemistry and a delight to read. Ren is a quirky, algebra teacher with a heart of gold and Griffin is the town's golden boy, always finding ways for his town to thrive. Port Snow, Maine is the perfect small town and becomes a character of its own throughout the series. As with all Meghan Quinn books, the characters and dialogue are on point. The Knightly family is meddlesome, while loving, overbearing yet endearing and Ren fits right in as the perfect balance for Griffin as he navigates That Second Chance.

Keep reading for Rogan, the town grump and real estate mogul of Port Snow.

In this book we meet Rogan Knightly, second oldest Knightly brother, real estate mogul in Port Snow, Maine, broody, sexy and still completely in love with his Forever Girl that he pushed away seven years earlier.

Harper Sanders, former best friend and ex fiancé to Rogan, has just returned to Port Snow from college and traveling the East Coast and is hoping to find what she's been missing since Rogan broke her heart years before.

The curse put upon the Knightly boys isn't real, at least part of Rogan believes that... but what he knows is real is that with Harper back in town he's longing for the past and not understanding how to make things right. After being a complete d**k to Harper when he runs into her in their old town, Rogan begins to realize, with the help of his two younger brothers, that winning her back is the only thing he truly wants.

The chemistry between Harper and Rogan is off the charts! This book is written from both POVs, as with all of Meghan's books in this series. As an added bonus, we get to go back in time to see how Harper and Rogan's love became a love so all consuming it never dulled with time nor distance.

"You were searching for your home, and when it comes to you and me, our home isn’t a location or a building; it’s the place we hold in someone’s heart.”

In the beginning, I was not a fan of how Griffin treated Harper, but after the flashbacks and seeing why he created this shell around himself, I felt for him. I felt the heartache and pain he went through pushing Harper away and the longing he feels daily in the way he holds onto any little piece of her he can find. I fell in love with Rogan once he became determined to win Harper back, that broodiness added an extra layer of charm and wit that will just knock you on your ass!

Keep reading for more on Reid and Brig, our last two Knightly brothers.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Reid's story is different from his brothers' since the romance starts off almost right from the beginning. It's a friends to lovers, best friend's little sister romance that I adored and found myself cracking up throughout the book, not only with Reid's antics, but also with Eve's ranting.

"...There’s nothing better than a human with a dick coming up to you and saying, That’s not how you feel, peasant woman.” I pat my chest. “Really makes your nipples hard, doesn’t it?”

Eve has known Reid almost her entire life, being the twin sister to Reid's best friend, Eric. She's always secretly had a crush on him, but has always felt she was firmly planted in the "no touch" zone. Like wise, Reid has always crushed on Eve but has been warned to keep his eyes, and hands to himself by Eric. After moving to Boston, creating an up and coming restaurant with Eric and subsequently losing it, Reid finds himself back at home. Now Reid just coasts by day to day not living up to his potential believing that the curse placed on him and his brothers has caused him to be the loser Knightly.

While Reid is hot tempered and lashes out about his future, he and Eve seem to be on the same page in their relationship, until an opportunity presents itself bringing Eric back to town. I was not a fan of how Eric forced Reid to push Eve away, but hey we need some angst in this adorable story, right? Once Reid realizes what an idiot he's been, he sets his sights on winning back his girl.

The entire scene where Reid attempts to create this grand gesture, with the help of Brig (the romantic) and the rest of his family had me laughing out loud the entire time! Hands down my favorite scene in the entire series. While I would love to post the entire scene, we'll just say as a mom getting a visual of a baby lawn mower blowing bubbles to create a romantic scene is AMAZING 😂

Our last Knightly is on the way, he's the baby, a romantic and is desperately in search of That Swoony Feeling.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Brig Knightly, baby brother, believer of THE CURSE and hopeless romantic. While Brig is always searching for his Mrs. Right, he's completely oblivious to the fact that she's been right in front of him almost his entire life. The entire town knows that Ruth has been in love with Brig and are all in a plot to finally get them together.

I listened to the audiobook of this story and was not disappointed. Connor Crais and Kelsey Navarro did a wonderful job bringing Brig and Ruth to life. From the beginning Brig has been the brother who has been the most invested in the curse that was placed on him during his 21st birthday celebration. He's lamented over the fact that he will never find love no matter how hard he tries because of this curse. Most women in Port Snow won't risk the curse, but Ruth has never stopped crushing on the youngest Knightly.

After being convinced to sign up for a love letter pen pal situation, Ruth and Brig start to share their secrets with another. Outside of the letters, Brig begins noticing Ruth for the first time and is conflicted between his pen pal and his growing feelings for the local owner of Snow Roast.

This book cracked me up, had me swooning and also yelling at Brig to just wake up and see what's in front of him. It's such a great feeling to interact with characters you've fallen in love with throughout a series, being able to come back again and again to a small town that has captured your heart.

I cannot recommend this series enough, it's not given enough hype and deserves to be on the shelves of every romance reader who wants a feel good, small town hug in the form of 4 sexy brothers.
